Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars There are loads to say about this, but perhaps Hugo could provide the link between the Bible and Marx. That is, Les Miserables offers a compelling, breathtaking concern for the poor, the ignored, the blighted--the miserable--and why Christians the world over should be concerned with caring for those who cannot care for themselves while they work in a meaningful way for the good of themselves and their fellow man, not divorced from their work.
